Darío Castillejos Lázcares nació en la Ciudad de Oaxa ca, México el 1° de octubre de 1974. Actualmente es presidente de Cartonclub S.A. de C.V. "El Club De la caricatura Latina", colaborador del periodico El lmpar cial de Oaxaca, la revista Foreign Affairs Latinoamerica y el semanario El Chamuco. Su trabajo ha sido publica do en diarios como Le Monde, Le Temps, The Nation y The New York Times asi coma en las siguientes agen cias: caglecartoons. com, cartonclub. com, courrierinter national. com, cartoonmov ement. com, cartooning forpeace.org Castillejos Lázcares obtuvo muchos premi os entre ellos: el Premio Estatal de Periodismo e lnfor macion Benito Juarez Garcia en Oaxaca en 1997, 1999 y 2005; el Premio Nacional de Periodismo José Pagés Llergo en el 2005; yen los años 2012, 2014 y 2015 el Premio Nacional de Periodismo otorgado por el Conse jo Ciudadano en México, así coma el Premio Nacional "Rostros de la Discriminacion Gilberto Rincon Gallar do." Recibió tambien en 2013 el Premio Nacional de Periodismo otorgado por el Club de Periodistas de México; en el año 2011 el Grand Prix y el Primer Premio en la categoria de humor en la edicion 38a del Salon Internacional del humor en Piracicaba, Brasil; y el primer lugar en el tercer Concurso Internacional del Humor "Sinaloa 2014" en México. En 2009 Castillejos Lazcares formo parte del proyecto Cartooning for Reconciliation, organizado por el Parents Circle Forum en apoyo a la reconci/iacion /sraeli-Pa/estina. En 2016 publica "lmpresiones de un mundo desdibujado" en Editorial Almadia. En 2019 recibe el Award of Excellence en el 19th International Editorial Cartoon Competition en Canadá y el Premio a a Excelencia en Periodismo otor gado por la Socieda Interamericana de Prensa (SIP). En septiembre de 2020 recibio el Segundo Premio en el World Press Cartoon en la categoria de Caricatura Per sonal, en la Ciudad de Caldas de Rainha, Portugal. Cas tillejos Lázcares fue seleccionado entre /os 100 mexi canos mas creativos en el mundo por la Revista FORBES en su edicion de diciembre de 2020." “ En el tema que me tocó abordar hablo acerca de la Libertad, sin duda uno de los derechos mas preciados para todo ser vivo, contrario desde luego a la opresi6n o la esclavitud expresada en las jaulas rotas y los alambres doblegados. En este grabado represento tam bien la batalla de cada ser en busca de su libertad. Sin duda alguna el espiritu de lucha y la Fortaleza espiritual son requisitos indispensables para obtenerla pero tam bien la conciencia de nuestra pr pia fragilidad la cual nos ayuda a entender que es con nuestra fuerza pero tambien con la fe que podemos obtener la victoria, ele vando las alas hacia un cielo de infinitas posibilidades." Darío Castillejos Lázcares was born in Oaxaca City, Mexi co on October 1, 197 4. He is currently president of Car tonclub S.A. de C.V. His work has been published in newspapers such as Le Monde, Le Temps, The Nation and The New York Times as well as in the following agencies: cagle cartoons.com, cartonclub.com, courrierinternational.com, cartoonmovement.com, cartooningforpeace.org Cas tillejos Lázcares obtained many prices among them: the Benito Juarez Garcia State Prize for Journalism and Infor mation in Oaxaca in its 1997, 1999 and 2005 editions; the Jose Pages Llergo National Journalism Prize in 2005; in 2012, 2014 and 2015 the National Prize of Journalism awarded by the Citizen Council in Mexico, as well as the National Award "Faces of Discrimination Gilberto Rincon Gallardo." He also received in 2013 the National Journal ism Prize awarded by the Club of Journalists of Mexico; in 2011 the Grand Prix and the First Prize in the humor category in the 38th edition of the International Humor Fair in Piracicaba, Brazil; in 2012 the First Prize in the 5th Hall of Humor in Patio, Brazil (ECOCARTOON); and the first place in the third International Humor Contest "Sinaloa 2014" in Mexico. In 2009 Castillejos Lazcares was part of the Cartooning for Reconciliation project, organized by the Parents Circle Forum in support of Is raeli-Palestinian reconciliation. In 2016 he published "Impressions of a blurred world" in Editorial Almadia. In June 2019 he received the Award of Excellence at the 19th International Editorial Cartoon Competition in Cana da and in August of the same year the Award for Excel lence in Journalism awarded by the Inter-American Press Association (IAPA). In September 2020 he received the Second Prize in the World Press Cartoon in the category of Personal Caricature, in the City of Caldas de Rainha, Portugal. Castillejos Lázcares was selected among the 100 most creative Mexicans in the world by FORBES Magazine in its December 2020 edition. ''The theme of my woodcut print is Freedom, without a d oubt one of the most precious rights for every living being, and of course opposite to oppression or slavery represented here by broken cages and bent wires. My print also represents the battle of each being in search of his freedom. Without a doubt, the fighting spirit and spir itual strength are essential requirements to obtain it, but also the awareness of our own fragility which helps us understand that it is with our strength, but also with faith, that we can obtain victory, raising our wings towards a sky of infinite possibilities.
