Cesar CHAVEZ -- Oaxaca

Cesar Chavez nace en 1979 en la ciudad de Puebla, Mexico. Curs6 sus estudios universi tarios en la escuela de Bellas Aries de Oaxa ca, continuando su formaci6n en el Taller de la Grafica Popular en la ciudad de Mexico, asf coma en el taller de grabado de la Univer sidad Politecnica de Valencia, Espana yen Na goya University of Arts en Jap6n. Chavez cuenta con exposiciones individuales en Oa xaca, Puebla, CDMX, Belgica y EEUU, y ha participado en diversas exposiciones colecti vas en Espana, Canada, Reino Unido, Kenia, Sudafrica, Taiwan, Alemania, Estados Unidos y Jap6n. Es acreedor de distintos premios en las bienales mas reconocidas de grabado: en el 2008 recibe el XVI premio Jose Guadalupe Posada; en el 2010 el premio Shinzaburo Takeda en la segunda bienal Shinzaburo Takeda; asf coma Menci6n Honorffica en la Septima Bienal Nacional de Grabado y Pintu ra Alfredo Zalce en el 2009. Actualmente, Cesar Chavez gestiona e im parte talleres de grabado en diversos centros penitenciarios, con el objetivo de contribuir a la reinserci6n social de personas procesadas y sentenciadas mediante las artes. De igual manera, imparte talleres en distintas escuelas de educaci6n primaria con ninos y ninas con discapacidad mental y auditiva. "El tema de mi estampa es el Derecho al Ho gar. En la imagen represento la hacinaci6n en la que se vive en el mundo, donde es un tiem po imposible de adquirir una vivienda digna; pero al mismo tiempo buscamos acercarnos a la naturaleza y domesticarla, buscando la lib ertad en esa sensaci6n de habitat que tene mos hasta que nos llegue la muerte."

Cesar Chavez was born in 1979 in the city of Puebla, Mexico. He completed his university studies at the School of Fine Arts in Oaxaca, continuing his training at the Taller de la Grafica Popular in Mexico City, as well as at the engraving workshop at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain and at Nagoya University of Arts in Japan. Chavez had solo exhibitions in Oaxaca, Puebla, CDMX, Bel gium and the US, and has participated in various group exhibitions in Spain, Canada, the United Kingdom, Kenya, South Africa, Taiwan, Germany, the United States and Ja pan. He is the recipient of various awards at the most recognized printmaking biennials: in 2008 he received the XVI Jose Guadalupe Posada Award; in 2010 the Shinzaburo Takeda award at the second Shinzaburo Takeda biennial; as well as Honorable Men tion in the Seventh National Biennial of Print and Painting Alfredo Zalce in 2009. Currently, Cesar Chavez manages and teaches printmaking workshops in various prisons, with the aim of contributing to the social reintegration of prosecuted and sen tenced people through the arts. Similarly, he gives workshops in different primary schools with children with mental and hear ing disabilities. "The theme of my print is the Right to Home. In its image I represent the over crowding in which we live in the world, where it is increasingly impossible to ac quire a decent home; but at the same time we seek to get closer to nature and domes ticate it, looking for freedom in that idea of habitat that we have, until we die."
