La base del desarrol lo del ser humane esta ligado a la relacion con nuestros padres y nuestro entorno; quitarnos o privarnos de dicha oportunidad supone un vacf o en nuestro desarrollo y la forma en come nos desenvolvemos en el mundo."
Jose Silverio Herrera Lopez was born in Huajuapan de Leon, Oaxaca, in 1996. He initi ation into the arts began in the workshop of maestro Zenon Villanueva (2007 - 2012) and continued upon his arrival in the city of Oaxa ca, in 2013, learning metal engraving with the teacher Francisco Limon. He obtained a BA in Fine Arts at the Benito Juarez Autonomous University of Oaxaca (2013-2018), and since 2016 has been an active member of the Gabi nete Grafico Printmaking Workshop. Herrera's work has been exhibited individually and col lectively at the local, national and international levels. He was the recipient of the acquisition award at the 6th Shinzaburo Takeda Print Arts Biennial, (2019). Herrera's work focuses on the graphic media of drawing and printmaking, mostly relief printing. He takes up symbolic and historical images from Mexico and the Mixteca and combines them with the formal concepts of drawing. His interest in printmaking is due to the fact that it is a more democratic art and one linked to the human expression. His work seeks harmony and a reflection of the collec tive historical process and the dialogues he has with its geography. Printmaking is the me dium in which Herrera best finds his aesthetic and spiritual pursuits, where the human condi tion becomes more visible to him. "My print on the right to Education represents the elephant as a metaphor for the child who grows up unprotected by his parents, a very common occurrence in Latin America and within minorities alienated by history. The ba sis of human development is linked to the rela tionship with our parents and with our envi ronment; taking away or depriving ourselves of this opportunity lead to a void in our devel opment and in how we operate in the world.
